Welcome to Postbridge.net
This is a local website for Postbridge, a small village in the centre
of Dartmoor.
It was created for the benefit of people living in the village and the surrounding area but we hope that it will also be of use to anyone planning a visit to Dartmoor.
We've passed the Spring Equinox and the clocks have sprung forward.
We also had a marginally warm day yesterday, so by way of encouragement,
I've changed the website to its Spring colours.
Please note that the Post Office Stores are running on their
summer hours until 31st October.
This website remains a new venture and is still subject to many changes - even the final article will continue to evolve, depending on the changing needs/events/requirements in Postbridge - and, of course, the input of local people.
There will be a meeting in the Village Hall on 11th April at 8pm. This is regarding the "Moor Than Meets The Eye" project. Details are on the News Page.
The Clapper Bridge
It is believed that the famous Clapper Bridge dates back to the 12th century. In heavy rain, the East Dart river can rise very quickly from just a trickle to a raging torrent. The Clapper Bridge has survived many such events and David Cooper, who was just a lad when it was built, remembers all of them ☺
The Post Office Stores
The Postbridge Post Office and Village Store is opposite the famous
Clapper Bridge.
Cream Teas and other refreshments are available from the shop. The
Shop's opening hours are available here
